Los Números del 31 al 1.000 ( or 1000) - Numbers from 31 to 1,000

Now that you know the numbers from zero (cero) to thirty (treinta) from previous post and videos, we are going to learn the numbers from thirty-one to one hundred.

I am sorry if this becomes repetitious but it is the best way to learn a language, and in this case, the numbers.

Note that beginning with 31, the numbers are not written in one word; treinta y uno, cuarenta y dos, sesenta y tres, and so on.

Remember that when uno is is part of a number that is written in two words and is before a masculine word, uno becomes un. The same happens when uno is before a feminine word it becomes una.

setenta y una mesas=seventy-one tables
cincuenta y un coches= fifty-one cars

Cien is used before nouns and in counting.

Cien casas= One hundred houses or a hundred houses

noventa y ocho, noventa y nueve, cien

After cien (100), it becomes ciento to continue counting. EX: ciento uno, ciento veinte, ciento cincuenta, and so on.

Notice that there is no y in ciento uno

 Do you remember the numbers from 1 to 99? I hope so because you will need them to count  after 100.

You will need them to count from 101 to 199: ciento uno, ciento dos, ciento ochenta y nueve, and so on.

Cien is used in counting and before numbers greater than cien like cien mil (one hundred thousand) and cien millones(one hundred million).

When you use a number between 200 and 900 before a word or noun, you must remember to make them agree in gender: Cuatrocientas chicas, doscientas dos casas.

Mil means one thousand or a thousand.
